Wood Spools & Reels
When considering the reuse of reels in-house, opting for all-wood construction can significantly enhance longevity compared to 100% paper alternatives.
Our reels with wood cores and flanges are designed for smooth operation, eliminating the need for nuts or bolts. This streamlined approach not only reduces potential weak points but also ensures a cleaner, more efficient assembly.
For applications involving heavy loads and high winding pressure, using wood reels with solid wood cores is highly recommended. This combination offers exceptional strength and stability, especially when the flange pressure is substantial. If the flange pressure is minimal but the core must support loads exceeding 40 pounds, integrating wood cores with corrugated flanges is ideal for optimal performance.
The solid wood core provides nearly 100% surface area for gluing, allowing for a robust bond between the core and the flanges. In contrast, paper cores limit the gluing surface area to the wall width, which can compromise strength and durability.
